Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher, I have found a truth to myself: The purpose of education is to spark curiosity in the world. To explore the wonderment of what a material can unfold and figure out challenges one may run into in life. I wish to promote a sponsorship for the ‘aha!’ moment and have a classroom full of tinkerers, explorers, and students asking questions. I want to see light bulbs flash when they talk to a friend about a challenge or bias they face. Through my guidance, students will set challenges for themselves, solve and tinker through problems, and I will ask them to persevere and not give up at first, second, or third chance. It may take years to build this community, and even longer to make a difference across the school community I will fall into, but it is worth every student I will teach.

Through a classroom community based in curiosity, self- empowerment, wonderment, and perseverance, I will make the next generation of movers and shakers lateral and divergent thinkers in the world.
