People are constantly existing in two mental states: the conscious and unconscious self. Within them, the memories and experiences that make them who they are constantly evolves due to the surrounding environment, people, and current events. Since we are perpetually fluctuating, the drifting states of dreaming and reality tend to blend in the waking world.
In response to episodic memory experiences, I record memories through physical sculptures that have accumulated over time to become versions of ‘truth;’ blending levels of reality with perceptions, fears, and dreams. This “memory experiment” is to witness firsthand how memory warps over time in relationship to the conscious and unconscious self in the typically discarded, trance-like reality of the moments in between.
